If you want something with 'listenable' texture, The Rita is probably the seminal example. But Vomir gets to the point where the idea of a "favourite" ceases to make much sense.

Its is very interesting that Bennett cites Yoko Ono as being inspirational. (as in the video etc) as Ono was part of fluxus and this was very much a multimedia collective in which themes were identified as neo-dada, “a work had to be an object-critique of logic or mathematics or objective structure." …
“In 1962 Flynt began to campaign for an anti-art position. Thus he demonstrated against cultural institutions in New York City (such as MoMA and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts) with Tony Conrad and Jack Smith in 1963 and against the composer Karlheinz Stockhausen twice in 1964.[7] Flynt wanted avant-garde art to become superseded by the terms of veramusement and brend—neologisms meaning approximately pure recreation. Flynt read publicly from his text From Culture to Veramusment at Walter De Maria's loft on February 28, 1963—an act which can be considered performance art. "(wiki)

Two themes in art are Romanticism and Classicism... or if you like Nietzsche's Dionysus and Apollo, or Freudians Id and Super Ego... or the Northern European Saxon Gothic.. etc. and Southern Latin - Gallic...

Not surprising then that Industrial / Power Electronics fits in with this Neo Dada tradition. Hence the use of provocative anti establishment, ant social and moral norms – themes, names, images etc.
And that Industrial / PE is very much 'perfomative' visceral, use of violence in presentation and vocalisation.

Compare this to the stasis of Vomir, or even The Rita. Or Merzbow. Though maybe Japnoise can combine the two being non western in its traditions?

This is where for me I would see a noticeable difference between the development of Noise in the 1990s as being distinct from Industrial / PE. Not all who use the term noise would agree, but I think one could make the point.

There is a process by which the Romantic / Classical evolve into each other, so from fluxus came via La Monte Young Minimalism. In painting Abstract Expressionism, Pollock / Kline et al became the minmalist works of Judd and Reinhardt...

So in no way is the coolness of some noise a critique the 'heat' of PE / Industrial, they are part of changing set of genres.

The final idea is that this process is over. = Post Modernism.

An insightful question, if you buy, then not for the "sound".

Not specific to HNW but sometimes noise is conduit to sell art
