I'm looking for more ambient music similar to these artists. Introspective, isolating, generally sad. Relatively minimalistic. Sometimes lo-fi. Highly monochromatic palettes:

Skirting around the themes of sadness / insomnia, this alias of Venetian Snares is rather brilliant. Contains some elements of rhythm (use of drum machines) but with weird time signatures and keys and a general feeling of loneliness.

Biosphere has been around for ages, this recent album was recorded in isolation from the arctic regions of Norway using field recording techniques and studio improvisations.
