SKINTAG - PANIC PERFECT MIND
This is mostly the result of a months dicking around, throwing my influences into one pot and seeing what bubbles up, and I'm not even sure if this is the right section for this thread, but after months, I've just been dying for a bit of input and feedback, just to see from the outside what's good and what's worth improving upon or just straight up erasing. Amateurish no doubt, but everyone starts at zero.

Only marginally related to noise if at all, but awesome nevertheless!

oh bullshit, this is why we cant have nice things
its noise in the most general sense, yes it has more tone and dynamics than some, but most would not classify it as music, Noise as a genre should include as much as possible, thats how you grow it, assimilate
i would call it industrial noise
keep up the good work op

What is that VCF(filter) & why does it sound so icky with resonance cranked?
you may want checking that(lowering volume so not driving into clipping)
it peaking out into digital clipping?
is it digital filter?
is it virtual filter?
put a "limiter" on that if it's digi clipping
everything else sounds good until that filter resonance gets cranked IMO

I certainly concede it's not noise in the strictest sense, and I consider it post-industrial or experimental more than strict "noise," but the influence is there. "Skullfucked..." definitely came as a result of equal parts listening to whitehouse and bastardizing early godflesh drum grooves past the point of danceability.melkobukva wrote: ↑Sun Sep 16, 2018 5:09 amOnly marginally related to noise if at all, but awesome nevertheless!

Thanks! I believe "Assimilate" is the title of this book I've started reading on the history of industrial music and culture. The introductions fixates a bit too much on Front Line Assembly for my liking (as far as EBM goes, I really only fuck with early Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb), but it's a fun read. Industrial is definitely where my ears spend most of their time.killing raven sun wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 5:23 amoh bullshit, this is why we cant have nice things

Re: SKINTAG - PANIC PERFECT MIND
That's a good question, it was only done with FL mobile on my phone (with the exception of some drum patterns using another drum sequencer), and I don't remember what my settings were, but I definitely agree that there are parts that sound gross in less than enjoyable ways. A lot of the post-processing and mixing was very spur of the moment, and sometimes excess won the day as far as reining in and having more deliberate control over the sound waves. I'm more proud of the more withdrawn pieces. They feel more effective. There's something about refuge in audacity, but sometimes it's better to hear from a distance.WhiteWarlock wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 8:39 amWhat is that VCF(filter) & why does it sound so icky with resonance cranked?

Re: SKINTAG - PANIC PERFECT MIND
look for FLcompressor and/or some type of "limiter" for using as buss insert FX on synth
never used FL mobile(honestly have no clue about that interfase for mobile FL DAW)
and/or turn down the synth track so it doesn't drive way into red on high resonance
or beware of cranking up that resonance on synth filter so it doesn't have icky dig clipping sound
that is the biggest turnoff doe my ears on your compositions
the rest of it sounds good
so merely attempting pointing out ways for making it overall sound better i the future
