Blake's 7
"The Way Back" is filled with super samples galore^
Blake's 7 is a British science fiction television series produced by the BBC. Four 13-episode series were broadcast on BBC1 between 1978 and 1981. It was created by Terry Nation, who also created the Daleks for the television series Doctor Who.
A group of convicts and outcasts fight a guerrilla war against the totalitarian Terran Federation from a highly advanced alien spaceship. Former resistance leader Roj Blake witnesses a massacre and is subsequently framed for a series of fictional crimes by the totalitarian Federation.
saw it when first aired in the states on PBS around late 70's early 80s
Eye have seen the entire series at least 3x... let's make it 4x
One of my all time favorite BBC shows
Has anyone else ever watched this epic BBC SciFi series?

Re: Blake's 7
Yep, I watched them all on their original broadcast. I continued to get the magazine for years even though there was no chance of the BBC making a new series. I rewatched series one earlier this year for it's 40th anniversary and will surely watch seasons two, three and four when it's their time unless something kills me.

Re: Blake's 7
glad some people around here even have any clue about this series
Blake's 7 was massive early influence for me
almost no one in the states had any clue if made any reference for it
even worse than saying eye had a crush on Diana Rigg or Leela
so admitting had bizarre warped crush on Servarlan was far beyond their comprehension
~shrug~
guess that's what happens when you were addicted to BCC in the states on PBS
most people in the states don't even register "Keeping up Appearances"
always made me feel like an alien here
rewatching Blake's 7 series now
the traditional way
on cathode ray tubes connected to this computer as external monitors

Re: Blake's 7
BTW the last episode of the series is Epic horrible
on par with the ending of Logopolis regeneration into Peter Davidson
not many of us here had much clue about the UK riots in 80-81
suspect that is the real reason for the final episode
BBC purposely crushing/destroying/murdering the anti-system spirit of Blake's 7
population mind control strategy crushing dissent at the time
you would probably have better insights on that statement than me

Re: Blake's 7
I always thought the ending to the final episode was an homage 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid'. The 80-81 riots were down to the boiling over of racial tensions. That is, the result of a working class divided along racial lines being squeezed by the ruling class, rather than actual oppostion to authority. There was oppostion that was concurrent with the riots and a bit later.
Anyhow, Blake's 7 was a good series. Have you also seen Sapphire and Steele?
