Re: mixer
FX Loops
you can use AUX send/return buss for FX per channel
depending on your mixer
Mono return or use stereo pedal(chorus/pan) last in your pedal chain
typically AUX is used with rack FX
there are 4 Aux Busses on my Tascam mixer

Re: mixer
you can also while making "no input mixing board" NIMB
take your headphone out to channel input(with or without gain/distortion stage pedals)
then exploit the FX loop with FX pedals
yet personally don't fuck with any of that retarded shit
because like the capacitors in my mixers
you will fuck them up overloading preamps & channel strips
just because it sounds "cool" today
it will start sounding/acting like shit tomorrow with overloaded type of sustained abuse
FYI prolonged overload on mixer channels is BAD
recapping fuct channel strips is not fun
(if want making that type of opamp noisefloor resonant feedback loop then can easily do it other ways)
there may be safer way performing NIMB via AUX/FX
never really experimented with it much
or personally "need" using that method

Re: mixer
There is no 'proper' way, pedals are supposed to be hooked up to a guitar amp not a mixer.
Noise = doing things improperly
DO actually learn how to use a mixer tho yes.
I've never had a mixer fail due to feedback or clipping (but then again maybe I've just been too much on forums and not enough actually playing/recording tho ha), only due to being repeatedly thrown on the floor.

Re: mixer
what i have been doing is hooking my contact mic into the line in and it makes quite amazing noisy drone scapes,

How is the overall noise floor on your mixer now?timdrage wrote: ↑Thu Aug 09, 2018 2:40 amThere is no 'proper' way, pedals are supposed to be hooked up to a guitar amp not a mixer.

Noise floor will start increasing on channels from abuse
that is the first sign it needs recapped
get it's not an important factor for some people
have done full recaps on plenty of studio console channels strips
was taught doing that by factory tech from AMEK
also engineer for "Oasis"
~shrug~ never really listened to them or anything

Re: mixer
Dunno, my old ones I only ever really used for feedback noise anyway so don't have much frame of reference and my new/good one I don't really use heavy channel clipping anyway
but yeah like i said never knowingly had anything stop working or sound noticeably worse thru using as a no-input/feedback loop instrument
shouldn't both these threads be in Gear?

Re: mixer
Having said all that, I thiiink I finally fried a mixer channel at Noise Shed this weekend
haven't unpacked the gear to check it yet but it seemed to have a serious hum problem at the time (albiet with someone else's setup plugged in )

fail. jokes are funny, you are just dumb, did your mommy and daddy not show you enough attention?

Could you explain some of these other ways, just in case I wanted to do it?WhiteWarlock wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 7:32 pm(if want making that type of opamp noisefloor resonant feedback loop then can easily do it other ways)
Re: mixer
UPDATE: actually nah it's fine, must have been some problem with someone else's gear/cables

Would like to know too, especially if they are cheaper and easier than 'buying the cheapest mixer u can find and slamming some feedback thru it'Bonehole wrote: ↑Sun Aug 19, 2018 2:50 amCould you explain some of these other ways, just in case I wanted to do it?WhiteWarlock wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 7:32 pm(if want making that type of opamp noisefloor resonant feedback loop then can easily do it other ways)
