Fuck. Island could've been sick
Re: Re-Animator
I know this is an old thread, but I only saw Re-Animator for the first time a few months ago this year, having bought a DVD of it. It was okay. The sexual themes in so many horror films (and anime, for that matter) do nothing (or very little at best) for me, but it was a decent bit of sleazy, pulpy, semi-comedic/irreverent horror all the same.
Haven't seen any sequels or additional, tangentially-related franchise entries.
I like the original story as well... The original film was so far removed from it, it was a little disappointing in that respect (not even talking about modernizing it, just the plot overall). I'd be interested in seeing a more faithful film interpretation some day, but one that still has a trashy-for-its-time, Gothic pulp atmosphere.

Re: Re-Animator
I think From Beyond is better from what I recall. Still, from Stuart Gordon I like Castle Freak more than both, and Fortress is a childhood favorite.¼ dead wrote: ↑Tue Dec 18, 2018 5:28 pmI know this is an old thread, but I only saw Re-Animator for the first time a few months ago this year, having bought a DVD of it. Noise Trivia: Dano said to me he got the name Shock Technician from Re-Animator (or From Beyond if I am remembering it wrong) credits.

Re: Re-Animator
Bonus trivia I thought it was too awesome not to share even if no one cares about Castle Freak:
Director Stuart Gordon was in Charles Band's office and he noticed a poster entitled Castle Freak with a Quasimodo-like man chained to a wall being whipped by a woman.[1] When Gordon asked about it Band replied "Well, that's a castle and there's a freak."[1] Band said he had no script but if Gordon wanted it, he could do whatever he wanted with the idea as long as he maintained the concepts of a castle and a freak.[1]

Re: Re-Animator
I remember being underwhelmed watching the first one but gotta watch it again sometime. The second looks cool, in my "to watch" list for a long time.

Re: Re-Animator
seen and or own them all thus far...
the first reanimator will always win because of total sentimental value
there was nothing at all for comparison at the time
rented it on VHS in summer 1986? along with Fulci's "Gates of Hell" aka city of the living dead
now that fucking epic "Video Nasty" floored me back in the day
that may have been my first Fulci experience
unforgettable
imprinting
official start Fulci and italian horror movie obsessive quest
Fulci movies are at least 1,200,000,000x better than whatever clemon is prattling on about...
