I've never really felt the whole dark/metal vibe going on in a lot of harsh noise.. interesting to see how almost none of the 90s japanese artists go with the dark imagery

some artists:
Boy+Girl, Eraritjaritjaka, Cat as Furry Theremin, nxfxtxex, Gert-jan Prins, Apophallation, BBBlood, Lysogeny, Akuma Daikon

good thread, although some words really made me cringe hahah, POSITRONIX, pedalcore

Check out God Generator http://www.last.fm/music/God+Generator Sometimes the sounds are dark & mysterious but not angry & certainly never hateful. It's a duo & we each have such a big sound palette that the experimental combinations we create are endless. The project is basically exploration of imagination so the vibe is pretty much psychedelic machine magic and it's far more emotive and hpynotic than most noise music.

Here's an idea

The record label Sub Rosa has been releasing very well thought out, and lovingly put together anthologies called

An Anthology of Noise & Electronic Music- Vol. 1-8

Each is a 2CD set of artists as far back as the 1950s right up to 2010. Volume 7 and 8 haven't been released yet, but each volume has an emphasis in a certain area of noise (but not thoroughly).
For instance, Volume 6 has an emphasis on Japanese noise, but they are plenty of other non-J artists (e.g. Z'ev and Henry Cowell)
Basically these volume form the basis for wider exploration by the listener. Nicely packaged with like 50-60 page booklets.

Yeah I have no interest in gloom and doom, black noise- I already know life sucks and is hard, why punish myself with more aural torture?

I have 2 of these compilations (#1 and 6) and they get played a lot.
volumes 1-7 Are now on bandcamp, 8 never got released as far as I can tell. Are there any nuggets hidden in these I should be aware of?

http://subrosalabel.bandcamp.com/album/ ... ic-music-1

ncludes lots of electronic influences and psychedelia such as Autechre and Captain Beefheart so certainly not strictly noise.
An electronic music zine in occasional print format
