listen!
Jacques Atali in “Noise The Political Economy of Music” sees the history of music as moving through five stages, Listening, Sacrificing, Representing, Repeating, and finally Composing. The fourth, repeating, is the period of recorded sound, the final period,

"Beyond the rupture of the economic conditions of music, composition is revealed as the demand for a truly different system of organisation, a network within which a different kind of music and different social relations can arise. A music produced by each individual for himself, for pleasure outside of meaning, usage and exchange."

don't compose!

i keep confusing him with the major literary critic charles altieri

You say I "actively discourage peer noisicians from pursuing the alternatives"
nope. Posting snippets and work in progress for a release which never happened in my opinion is not a "release". Any more than stuff of recording sessions now on you tube.

i record ~30 minutes of noise and post it on a publicly accessible website from jliat-approved list (soundcloud, bandcamp, etc) - this is a release
I would say 'minimally' as such sites are swamped its probably going to be ignored without some promotion. Moreover I have no approved list, and would say you would need to advertise the release if you had any intention of making it public. Because these are free, and because the cost of CDR is low even a CDR 'release' will be swamped. Hence the recent move to cassette as an alternative, and Vinyl - Vinyl is still expensive so its taken more 'seriously'. (not by me)

i do the same on a publicly accessible website not from jliat-approved list (noiseguide) - this is a non-release
ergo, it is not music and public availability that define a release, but conforming with the jliat-approved list
In my terms exchanging examples of work on a forum is not a 'general release' of a work. Or a release at all. If it is for you fine. And if you want to call it music - fine again. Elsewhere you claimed not to be able to produce music...

how is that not retrograde and dogmatic and authoritarian and discouraging from pursuing the alternatives?
Alternative, no, people have been exchanging examples of work like this for years, even exchanging cassettes privately. Authoritarian, nope, I have no authority here. Discouraging alternatives, again no, as its hardly an alternative. As I've said I think the alternatives, floppy disk, USB, VHS etc all and more have been explored by people making noise.

If you honestly think that you posting a link here a couple of months ago to 30m minutes of your work is some new and radical "alternative" non dogmatic way of releasing work, i'd have to say I could not agree, but go ahead.

I'm well aware of the 'problems' created by the freeing up of music production, and the idea of a release by an artist for a public, something which I've come to see cannot be an existing cultural model... as I've quoted before...

Of course the question then is why put out releases at all. And its a good question. I think one that hasn't a satisfactory answer. Vanity?
Or just the need to be. As the other question is why post here, why do you? and use it as a platform for your 'releases'... is it that we humans knowing mortality want to be heard.

Like those hand prints in Neolithic caves... 'look me... I was.."
the words of a bitter doosh, those who cant do, review, and when that doesnt get the attention they need then they start flinging their own poo around, trying to soil the whole cage, never realizing they are just two bananas away from da russian gulag they rail against

Checking - yes it was never a release... here a basic synopsis of where you posted your TRACK which was never released or as yet to be.

WW - started new noise track...
some basic layers

(not a completed track even)

M - Quality stuff.
Did something too yesterday.

WW - good long track

M - thanks for listening & commenting on my track

(Track - for a comp NEVER released)

M -I'm SOOOO in! Badly needed something like that to drag my stuff to a rehearsal place and record amps, percussion & vox for real.

(FOR REAL!)

The thread continues but the comp never materialized.

As for being innovative - back in 2005 people were putting tracks on myspace and posting links here to get feedback, just as you did in October 2018.
