I have some random cheap mics but they barely pickup anything low. Any good cheap ones, like the small lapel sized mic but pickups more than vocal range?
like closest thing to this that has range: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Small-Clip-On- ... SwogpaaBXz ??

So that's a mic, less than $3 which has a 20Hz - 20KHz range.
Are you looking for cheaper than this, or better than this?

I think trying to quantify music is one of the biggest wastes of time in the world, like discussing your favourite colour or deity or pizza topping. People should realise that and get on with their life.

I'm sorry, yes, it can be wayyyy more than a couple bucks. Like a small, quality mic, worth the money. I'm basically gonna try not to be as cheap b/c that strategy hasn't paid off.

Hey, making a whale album would be a good way to supplement my hobbies.... but no, just want more lower end in my recordings, especially when things are already getting amped/overdriven/distortion and that leaves them so mids and high mids. Something that would capture lows too.

A lot of low end hinges squarely on microphone technique. Proximity effect, acoustics, etc.
If you're still at a loss, maybe try wiring up an old speaker as a microphone. Then veer into EQ, preamps, etc.
