1 because to correctly apply a term "X", the referent must be "X".
2 because to correctly apply the term the noise in the clouds, we must apply it to clouds with noise in.
and so clouds.
there must be a referent of the term "clouds".
i'm NOT saying that clouds must exist or be present, but that there must be a referent of the term "clouds" and so there must be "clouds" - whether or not a universal, or whatever.
