is that Ota Keiti art??
If you develop an ear for sounds that are musical it is like developing an ego. You begin to refuse sounds that are not musical and that way cut yourself off from a good deal of experience.

i'm working on making a tape player into a distortion pedal. it's going pretty good except i can't quite figure out how to make it so i can switch between distortion and bypass. right now the only time i can hear anything is when 'play' is pressed. any tips?

make it perminantly on play, and just wire a DPDT (double pole double throw) switch to make a true bypass. (google "true bypass" should give you the info if you can't figure it out)

Walkman distortion is the best, I really need to build more.

Oh and don't forget the super genius idea that someone had in some thread or other: Double up the distortion!!!! ie wire it so your main input goes to left tapehead channel, left headphone goes to right channel of tapehead, then right headphone is your output! = crushing.

If you're clever you can add the appropriate switches to change from single to double distortion + other fancy stuff...

cool stuff all around. here are some of my recent builds. they're more for sale than for my personal use, but homemade nonetheless.
