Currently creating OS based on Ububtu "Bionic" for N01ZE studio spin...
Heavily indulging in WINE(Wine Is Not an Emulator)
USB LIVE Mountable ISO Linux Modified OS will be packed with my custom SoundDesigner Tools...
Operating System specifically made for creating Experimental/Noise.

been using VCVrack on ubuntu64 recently...
bleh... personally not very impressed with it... it's alright...
yet not something would actually use on my recordings...
because have hardware plus own systems/methods for computer sound design
experimenting with getting my systems running on linux
most likely out of boredom & complete despise for Win/Mac OSux

Is there a better choice?

rigs are old versions of Wavelab/Nuendo
obscure "defunct" japanese VST/DX environment console.jp
http://www.console.jp/en/
that runs inside of DAWs or standalone
for modular use of my custom VST systems
always reminded me of Cycling '74 max/msp on old powermacs
plus some other sound design tools authoring interfaces
various midiCC control interfaces
the interfaces on laptops are tascam us122 us144 plus edirol UA3fx w/lightpipe
the desktop interfaces are Protools rack lightpiped with ADAT + M-Audio 1010 rack=24tracks i/o

experimenting with Linux Ubuntu mod & Wine currently...
have most of my tools functioning...
plus Ardiour, Qtractor, Audacity, & Cinelerra video
really it's whatever works for you...
for me... created personal sound design tools that need working in system
"shrug~
Linux is something for me experimenting with since own multiple laptops
making it meet my personal specifications

also sort of toying with DarkWaveStudio https://www.experimentalscene.com/softw ... ve-studio/

system 6 :D but I have a different disk image to run 7.5 or something, works great. Have used sheepshaver on desktop too but this is Mini vMac running on an ipad :D used these to get it going: https://github.com/vaporstack/minivmac4ios 5 and this tutorial https://youtu.be/C0lkFkRp8c0 3

never in a million years would have been able to figure out how to compile and install without the tutorial but it was pretty easy once I found that :)

need to dig out more from old backups but i've been going thru ancient childhood files and finding some cool stuff

Having fun in soundedit making raw noise from waveforms, the timestretching is nice and jungle-esque too

Oh cool thanks will check that out, looks great :)

make every attempt getting that running os7.6+
so many good audio tools will run on that OS
os6 is way too early plus you have no real harware.... DAE/DSI
my digidesign nubus rack is real time FX 4 channel procressor
that was the workaround for slow ass cpu back then
dig through OS9lives forum archives...
plus ummm mac repository

you should probably stay with some "Normie" OS for sake of your sanity

ahhh seems 7.6 can't run on anything vmac can emulate :( (the ipad version at least... custom build for desktop can do SE/Classic too... seen talk of building custom ones for the iOS one but can't be bothered to get that deep haha)

re:real hardware in the long run I plan to get my IRL mac plus set up and use this - https://www.bigmessowires.com/floppy-emu/ it worked well some years back tho by now maybe the plus needs a re-cap :-/ I have the special long torx screwdriver ready haha

Will give 7.6+ and the softwares you recommend a go in sheepshaver or on some old mac or other some time for sure :) I think i still have a powerbook old enough to run these things tho the battery is dead and I need to find a new classic installer as in the OS X days i deleted Classic to save space :D

live loop scroll record... was method used for getting glitch noise[
Used that technique on the proto-Cementimental soundtrack to my student film ha :D

ask around OS9LIVES... have it yet those machines are in cryogenic stasis buried because of SpaceWar...
They will have it archived...
DieHard or one of the other locals will be happy helping you...
