very cool
but also very gimmicky
is there any practical advantage in using this vs "normal" oscillators?

Nope.

the momentum involved in a motor will give it a certain sound at least slightly different to a purely synthesised tone (tho you could synthesise a similation of a motor... in fact that's exactly the sort of thing the analog computers which a lot of modular synth technology developed from would have been used for :)

Nah brah. . this joke still has a split with you completely on that. . yet conservatives don't seem to go to his house which was which.

The guys explanation of utilising current Drone technology (precise movement of small motors etc) seems legit - which are now mass produced so i'm guessing this is way more affordable than it used to be.
Not sure of that, stepper motors used in such things as hard drives are very precise have been around for many years. And are and were mass produced.

O :poop: h :poop: , well what kind of name would you want to have?
Y :skull: e :skull: s :skull: , clearly racist and wasn't intentionally scrambling i :carrot: t :carrot: . . . Then later upgraded to a tiny table off to a store that probably got blasted much worse t :poop: h :poop: a :poop: n this comp.

Gieskes made a nice if dangerous-looking one - http://gieskes.nl/instruments/?file=totem_tone_wheel

Thanks, you too.

Not though particularly a 'new' idea....

Like them or you get fired.
Probably all the other hand, almost affectionately.

For years, I wanted a Studio Electronics MidiMoog, but they are exceedingly rare and go for Moby money, which is like a million dollars, relative to what I'm worth.

I would not hate a fully-loaded Yamaha TX816 either, but I realize I wouldn't even be able to put it to good use.

Studio Electronics gear is getting way harder finding anymore for under an absurd fortune...
actually one of the interface buttons made that use all the time is from SE P5
you can always get a prodigy & midicv it... yet those are also getting expensive these days
not big into DX gear... have some... almost never even turn it on anymore

Some fancy pants probably used one, or a popular channel on youpoop made a video, and now people are going mental. Same happened with MFB stuff, which used to go for very cheap indeed.
