Longest Noise Album?

Post by drfailure » Fri Jun 14, 2019 1:03 am

Hey guys, I just uploaded an album titled "White" on Bandcamp. The runtime (you can check for yourselves using http://www.grun1.com/utils/timeCalc.html) is 12:02:52 (yes, 12 hours). I wrote in my wiki (https://www.noisewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=White) that according to a comparison to the latest world record album, that it was the longest, and I wanted to see if any of you had an album that was longer than 12 hours or knew anyone with an album over 12 hours, or if I'm a clear winner here (I know, 12 hours can easily be beat in the noise world, but I'm curious about the present, if I'm currently a winner or not).

Also, general long noise album thread. Lemme see what y'all have, even if it's not 12 hours long.

I think Jliat has something that's takes 2 years to listen to, but it aint up on no bandcamp.
Way to go! You might have a record for bandcamp.

Even on bandcamp, you're unfortunately still about 12 hours short:

Necroanal put out a 40+ hour song when bandcamp was still in it's infancy:

https://www.discogs.com/Necroanal-Looks ... se/3310603

And of course outside of bandcamp John Cage and Jem Finer already have an 18- and 20-year lead, respectively:

That said, I was kind of impressed by the variety of sounds from the parts I listened to, which is an accomplishment in itself given the overall length!

Organ²/ASLSP (As Slow as Possible) by John Cage is being performed in some church in Germany.. it will end in the year 2640.

I was going to suggest this, but its not noise.

Also not noise:-

Which started midnight 1999 and will end midnight 2999

Thank you for letting me know. I kinda had a feeling that there were definitely some avant garde artists who had beat me by a long shot, but I didn't know for certain lol.

Once you've made a few sales through Bandcamp (totaling $20 USD or more), we increase the max per-track upload size to 600 megs. There is no limit on the size of albums.
would the trick would be to make a one bit (?) file that sounded like noise?
jliat holds the record for shortest noise track, i believe??

Hmm, you care about your privacy right?

1. I actually cheated the system and made a $20 purchase on one of my own tracks (basically I paid $5 because bandcamp takes a percentage of your earnings), so I've been able to upload 600 MB files.

2. I did record a noise track at 0:00 on my Spiral Out album. Maybe jliat beat me by a few nanoseconds? Who knows lol.
