Funny enough, I was also thinking about Cock ESP the other night... I keep in regular contact with MDRR, who in turn has done many Cock ESP "bootlegs" and associates with some of the rotating lineup (Emil, RJ, Sven, maybe more). If you guys have any questions, I might be able to get answers.

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is the difference between this versus an inductive pickup? They both seem to do the same thing.

Hmm... I'd recommend the first track on Pure Skin by Navicon Torture Technologies. It doesn't sound like any of the examples you mentioned per se, but as far as "melancholic" and "romantic" go, that was the very first thing that came to my mind. NTT in general should lead you down the kind of paths ...
