Serious? Thats rad! Make sure I know about that and I will buy a copy. Yea totally serious I have a pile of 3" reels and I beleive I have some decent 1/4 tape stock somewhere. I was hardcore collecting reel to reel tape decks for awhile to get found sound.. I have gotten rid alot of the decks thems...

multi formats.. well it's a hassle and there really is not reason to not have a cdplayer.

however I do plan on putting out a 3" reel to reel comp... so there!

maybe if somebody comes up with a non proprietary format but the reason why it is like is now is to prevent copying... which ironically is probably killing it's acceptance

But its still not reel to reel. The problem with tape being if you want more bandwidth and higher frequencies you need more tape moving faster and there are physical limitations on what's practical.. well analog versus digital is a hot debate.. Some of the stuff I have been working with I can hear the difference between 32 bit and 16 bit versions and it's not subtle especially not with the higher frequencies but I don't know how much of that would really translate if I were able to output 32 bit...

Obviously CD's involve physcial energy.. at least with pressed CD's there are actual little pits involved... I dunno if that's mechanical though.

Weird I think I may have only seen one of those once.. I remember seeing a Tascam mixing board once that had a large cassette built into for 4 or 8 track recording I seem to recall it being non standard ..I doubt it was an Elcaset though.
