I approve!

I also made some semi not noise, which turned out a bit techno.

Re: proper academic "noise?"

https://soundcloud.com/nigel-mcbride we nearly (but not quite) hosted a noise festival in oxford, where he lectured. i think the 2016 composition was on a tape ("edgy" he said). is he noise, or just stochastic music? A noise festival would be most welcome around here :) Nearest thing would be the A...

Re: can making noise / art save the world

Well true.

I don't think making noise will stop war.

Some mainstream pretty art of kids holding hands drawn by an 8 year old mortar shell victim might work though.

Re: can making noise / art save the world

Depends which bits you are hoping to save.

If you mean the actual planet and the environment then hmmm maybe.

If you mean people and our cultures and spiteful warring tendencies then no

Re: Soloman Tump

cool... i'm near oxford, so let me know if you perform there ever :) There is very little in the way of a noise scene around here but a couple of DIY promoters put on some experimental stuff. But I really would like to do a live set somewhere soon. I was toying with the idea of putting on my own ev...

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a2625029968_16.jpg The second official release by Soloman Tump, an experimental rhythmic noise artist from Oxford, UK. Composed during the daytime, June 2019. A bizarre blend of noise, synths, field recordings, feedback and foley. Inspired by the old brick barn on Calais L...

Re: advice for starting a netlabel

I rarely feel any sort of attachment to a "release" if I do not own a physical copy of it.
I have slowly warmed to digital as a means for getting hold of stuff that is out of print or vinyl only and I cannot afford it.

I would stream whatever you put online though and give it a go for sure.

Re: what hobbies(non noise) do you have?

Trying to go out cycling more often. When I feel like it. Also got a cheap little inflatable canoe so I go out on the Thames sometimes. You can find some great remote spots along the river for field recordings of bird song / crickets / bugs. Hayfever currently inhibits both of the above activities, ...

Re: New JUICE MACHINE Tapes and Cdr

sorry Fletcher, but that is our reality for shipping abroad. Yep I know, it is the same with me sending my zines abroad. A few times I have been stung, quoting one price that I thought would cover it then being faced with higher charges at the post office. A slim line between making a small profit ...
