Re: how did striborg do/record vocals on nefaria?

It literally just sounds like any cheap, generic "metal" distortion, a fake "analog" delay and some reverb. Get a Danelectro FAB Metal and a First Act delay and you're golden. The reverb is a harder thing to really nail down, but I think most digital reverb units with dampening options will cover th...

Re: noise on a budget

All my earliest stuff was recorded on boomboxes with built-in speaker-mics over shitty numetal/post-grunge Street Team promo cassettes. Them's were the times what we lived in.

Re: Fucking cage nuts: Please help me

Did you read my post? Surely, that couldn't have been much harder! The nuts which fit the rack in question have nothing stamped, and they don't seem to have any "obvious" specs to reference, since they don't match either of the standard, stamped ones I have, which don't fit. I specifically wanted to...

More gay work music: uQ983htswu8 Offish* 2k19 stalker/drunk-and-crying-alone-in-bed theme. *(Official). I've also been reading a lot of issues of Cosmopolitan that inexplicably keep getting delivered to this address. What a stupid fucking magazine. They use words like "sitch" (situation) all over it...

Re: Dictaphone recommendations

Continuing from there, mic placement (beyond sheer proximity) is practically a non-issue with something like a dictaphone (you have to be close enough to a source to get a "reasonable" recording of it without it being surrounded in hiss and all the other dynamically compressed sounds happening aroun...

Re: Dictaphone recommendations

Not to be rude, but it's in the name: DICTAphone. They are, by design, meant to be bare-bones devices suited to the most basic purpose of recording dictation. A lot of cheap, hand-held digital recorders are the same, with shockingly similar (noisy, lo-fi, dynamically compressed) results. Handheld ta...

Re: Post expensive gear you want to buy

For years, I wanted a Studio Electronics MidiMoog, but they are exceedingly rare and go for Moby money, which is like a million dollars, relative to what I'm worth.

I would not hate a fully-loaded Yamaha TX816 either, but I realize I wouldn't even be able to put it to good use.

Re: Darren Wyngarde (Filthy Turd) status?

I must say, it's always been a little bit terrifying being a part of the workin' world, all things considered. But I feel somewhat reassured, given that employers "who care" cannot even manage to spell my first name correctly on my nametag.

Re: Your recent purchases:

The last gear I bought was a Korg AG-10, many years after instantly frying the first one I bought by mistakenly using an incorrect adapter with it. MY3dG7YG-nE I don't know why I felt I needed this. I don't even remember what it was that initially attracted me to it (perhaps it was simply the "beige...

Well, duh. I am trying to get you to think outside of that particular rock and roll box. Believe me, I love gear. I have more than too much, and still not enough. But I am trying to help you as a budget-minded beginner. I am trying to SAVE YOU MONEY! I'm trying to say, if you don't have loads of mon...

Re: noise on a budget

Are you on a personal computer? If you don't own one, buy one of those. Pirate everything. A lot of software is free, even. Download Audacity and use the "Import Raw" function to import non-audio files as RAW audio data. FREE NOISE. Here's something I just crapped out in literally ~2 minutes (minus ...
