my library of congress tape deck for the blind doesn't need mods
yet it does occasionally need new rubber band
as replacement belt(just replaced the belt 3 days ago)

REDACTED
just grabbed old tape and pressed record few minutes ago using library of congress tape player for the blind
speed/direction changes does super slow & super fast...
the entire range via slider & switches... that track is super slow mode with flipping between forward/reverse playing the slider

You can get cheap tiny PWM motor speed controller boards on eBay and other places, they have screw terminals so you don't even need to solder, just cut the wires to the motor and splice the controller in between, then you can make any tape deck slow to a warped crawl

Does it record? If so:

Plant a switch in line with the erase head so you can do sound on sound.

Have you tried this with a four track? Pondering doing this with mine, though I need to see if there's enough space inside the case for it.

I haven't as my only current 4-track is too good to risk messing up. :) also it already has 2 speeds and a decent range of pitch control, and i suspect some modification of the existing pitch control circuit would be a better tactic

would be good to try on a cheapo one for sure tho!
