#1 rule
don't give a flying rats ass about critics
(yet be conscious of feedback both positive & negative)
"consider the source"
it's all a learning process
even more so when you think you are the master
experimenting is good plus required
until you find your maximum desired sound & composition methods
that resonates with your original creative visualization influences/inspirations
then the battle is continuity per release/album/project
make sure it meets your own personal QC standards (Quality Control) as highest priority

"you should be your own biggest critic"
that is how you create/establish your own QC
also be conscious of your optimal target audience
for best penetration

thanks for the feedback. saying that the expander defines my sound is unfortunately accurate, that is a crutch that I rely on too often and that I need to move past.

and the complaint about it being tepid is somewhat expected, admittedly it's a lot more ambient than noise. It was more just me immersing myself and forgetting about everything than a "purge" in the way of visceral screaming or anything.

thanks!
now i didnt complain about it being tepid, just saying it lacks punch imo, a catharsis doesnt need to be violent, it can be thoughtful and measured, but as you say its somewhat ambient with the room mic flattening out the dynamics maybe
Ah ok. I guess I misunderstood you

Example:
one of my old friends is attempting scoring tour support from Taco Bell
told him contact mic hand crank metal meat grinder and record grinding up their Chalupas
plus put contact microphone on bag of Nacho chips
smash at will
for percussive noises
edit some commercials
as source sounds
record demo
make video
since that is the desired one shot specific target audience this time
milk it baby!

also force yourself doing experiments with Vox(vocals)
especially if feel weakness in your abilities
even if it is recording some spoken word for manipulating
there are countless thousands and thousands of drones
from people too scared of recording Vox
and/or actually saying anything
standing for anything
have some courage
not pretending it is at all easy
requires much effort/practice
yet don't just waste one of your best instruments by going mute
one of my friends used to record his GF talking
random phrases plus gave her parts for speaking/screaming
then edited/layered them in with extreme noise
that is all part of "production" tricks
they ended up doing susan lawly tour

i certainly applaud your efforts, but if you want tough critique this early in the game it wont do, there is a place you are moving towards and you must define it all along the way, make the listener hear what you want them to, you will know when you can do this, critique is for changing up your game when you get bored, its not like you can become a virtuoso at noise so dont worry about what sounds good to others, make what sounds good to you first and foremost, then make it better, people will catch on naturally, but lets be honest, its noise, if you want noise popularity it takes a cult of personality

exactly^
that is completely another facet of the game
the level boss
requires specific type of player persona
otherwise exponentially massive amounts of work/repetition on so many mundane tasks & relentless networking/promo

anyone interested in noise popularity needs to consider game developers and other entertainment that needs atmosphere, those are the gigs that pay, good luck

I would imagine constant gigging / touring would earn you some noise-cred too.

But gigging / touring is most likely a bottomless pit of expenses if you do not have noise-cred already.

BTW if you have never done time on the road...
it's not fucking easy... super high burn out rate... can cause anxiety/insanity
plus it's wise having emergency cash before hit the road
also some type of products you can peddle along the way for extra gas money
you better have some good universal troubleshooting skills
for getting past bumps/problems along the way
and not the type of person who just gives up
when things can get super fucked up
But gigging / touring is most likely a bottomless pit of expenses if you do not have noise-cred already.
exactly^ unless you can somehow tag along playing shows on tour with someone that does getting some noise-cred
