Agreed, but I could guarantee that they would somehow find something to despair about. I had begun writing about it but stopped after a while because it was turning into a blog type post on the show. Let;s just say that it's such a perfectly pitched pilot and what Ricky Gervais can do with 25 minutes is amazing. What do most other sitcoms do in that time? a couple of knob jokes.. might be it!

Can't agree more.

Yesterday, while getting drunk on wine, I watched a lot of stuff from Gervais and Harlan Ellison interviews, and while very different from each other in a lot of ways, it was very cool to see how many points they have in common under the surface. This acceptance of the absurd and tragedy of life but at the same time how humanist both are, how they succeed in not burying themselves in self pity, cynism and third rate nihilism with subject matter that would lead lesser souls to just wallow in it.

Well this evening, while getting drunk on whiskey I might do the very same. It's actually quite difficult to get a good interview where they are actually talking about their writing and not some new controversy about them. I'm really a big fan of the "soap box" realism style of writing. I'm not sure if you know what I mean SoA but you seem more worldly than most of us that you probably even understand what I mean.

So SoA, what do you think of the series or have you managed to get a stream of it?

Cool, well I think I can hold off for a few more weeks before discussing it. I just don't have that level of patience to hold off watching it.

It is as good as the pilot? You are making me reevaluate my decision of waiting...

Have you been watching Stephen Merchant's new show "Hello Ladies"?

It could of easily been a recycled version of what the Gervais/Merchant writing partnership is famous for but he actually has a writing style of his own and of course just as important - Its damn funny!

I tried to watch this show and didn't really find it funny but it's mostly because I don't really like Jervais very much.
