A mistake made by the few main stream scientists who attack the EU theory is they use their science to do so which the EU “theorists” reject in the first place. Any undergrad phil-sci will know that one should examine the claims of any theory in itself... if this is applied to EU theory it either collapses or resorts to “We are hopefully connected with the power and intelligence of the universe” AKA Judaeo-Christian God the Father...

The knowable size of the universe is a function of information (about it) and in conventional science there is a limit given by the speed of light. Simply you cant measure what you cant 'see'. And light speed determines the maximum size of a knowable (aka visible) universe in the conventional theories. An event which occurs so far away the light will not reach us or has not yet is unknowable. Gives us the size of 45.7 billion light-years... of an observable universe... However if speeds of 2.5 million light-years per second are possible an event taking place 45.7 billion light years away would take only 5 hours or so to reach us. So at such speeds the observable universe is far far greater, 788,400 billion light years in size. (my maths might be a little out but the principle is clear) - the faster you can transmit information the further you can know. To have a conversation using light or radio waves with someone near Deneb (a star in Cygnus) would take 1,500 years each way, as such a conversation would be difficult. The upshot is whilst Thornhill uses Arp's theories to 'make' the known universe smaller, his use of the work of Ralph Sansbury, 'makes' the knowable universe far bigger. But not infinite. Here i'm using 'common sense' more than complex maths...

He says “The visible universe is static and much smaller than we thought.” and yet proposes a “theory” which makes the visible universe many billions of times larger than is now generally thought in science. QED. A contradiction.
