You weren't one of the founding members of "The Lab"
yet can suspect you probably played there some time
under some name

duelin was such a clusterfuck illfated project.... one big party... that ended when the game platform became obsolete
Heh.. yeah I worked on what was billed as MTV's first video game around the same time at Hgun that was originally titled the Hotel Alexandria .. but at the last minute they decided to rename it Club Dead and supposedly people got confused and thought it had something to do with the Grateful Dead and didn't buy it and so it was also as far as I know MTV's last video game effort. It was an odd time to be trying to make games that relied solely on video content when the delivery platform was a fucking CD. Later I did another project for an independent video on DVD subscription service that was instantly dead when youtube became a thing... oh well.

I wasn't doing any live sound projects during that time... I may have jammed there a few times with Rullman and Foss or went to parties there... either that or I have it confused with a different loft.

you have it confused with old OVT loft on Hubbard
we threw parties there for years
everybody played in bands together
in that jam room with old "community" speakers
"The Lab" was near there yet totally different...
and exponentially better
beyond mere words

Brien hand that Amiga Par system & MX50 so was always there getting in time on his machine
that's how it worked
you had to reserve time slot using editing gear at OVT
plus we were all on roster for projects and or working live events

met Andy circa 88 punk scene
I guess I met Andy in person at an INC in 2007? he was interested in some of the stuff I had been circuit bending... I think it was a device called "The Mangler" which was basically the electronics from a 60's portable reel to reel that was feeding back into itself and had been modified to be a crude tone generator and distortion unit.

sounds like fun....
started circuit bending sometime in the early/mid 90s
then eventually got obsessed with schematics
got call from old engineer @ chicago trax
said he heard eye could solder
recapped the Amek Mozart at studio X with guy from factory in UK
1400 caps pulled & replaced
circuit bending became somewhat mundane for me
more fun designing the entire circuit
plus got tired of people fucking up things bending it and asking me for free merci help
can build custom modulars from scratch anymore
rather do that
yet my circuit bent yamaha vss30 still rules for lofi sample mangling

Yup.. I heard the IP has been rebuilt... looks like this is a more recent photo of it than when I last used it. I have a LZX rig.
