Roland SR-JV sound samples can be found here: http://www.synthmania.com/
mp3 format if so inclined for using as source/samples when converted for other formats
you can get good idea what sounds are on each card
BTW it only has half of the sounds per expansion card

OK tell you what, when I've completed my work with the 1010 i'll post it to you free- including shipping - so you can use it correctly.

Deal? You can even use a Box Number so as to remain anon.
Don't need your JV1010
Have XP series synth/Keyboard with 4x expansion slots filled
give it to someone else here that does
also had JV2080 in my old studio yet way prefer XP keyboard with built in Roland Sequencer
http://www.vintagesynth.com/roland/jv2080.php
(yes prefer using Roland hardware sequencers w/microscope for some projects)
have multiple machines with Roland PCM sounds/sequencers
including 2x MC303 2x MC307 plus can make PCM samples on Roland s760 & s550
will switch back for using those machines for composing in few months when complete current projects/releases
get yourself Hold Pedal for that Roland JV1010... use it... you will figure it out...
stacking infinite sustaining notes...
instant atmospheres/drones/noise depending on preset sample
especially with SR-JV80-15 Special FX Collection expansion card http://www.synthmania.com/sr-jv80-15.htm

The only problem with JV mp3 samples - other than not all there, I noticed many sounds are very sensitive to pressure and aftertouch, in particular some guitar sounds very Fripp like...

yeah well make actual velocity articulated/after touch samples with them.
instead of just using them as raw "fixed" samples
yet you need some hardware/software that is capable of such functions
plus time actually programming such attributes for the samples
~shrug~
eye don't really do much guitar sampling anymore
personally get way more gratification/better results actually playing guitar
yet that's one of my options after decades of practice/performing
those features are something you may want investigating if using your own DSP sampler code

I could go the route of using midi, i've found the routines to include in VB to trigger midi data, and used
this in the past. But for this project i use the SY99 as the midi controller. Some sounds being very short - a drum hit,
others long evolving pads.

never played Yamaha SY99 as of yet
although have played/recorded SY22
that is basically TG33 vector module with keyboard
investigated SY99 yet don't think it does same vector synthesis as SY22
so didn't want/need getting involved with that machine
guessing that is your main midi keyboard controller
is my info correct about it not being Vector Synth engine
and is more of a pre motif Yamaha workstation with PCM sounds?

The SY99 is a BEAST. It has PCM sampled sounds (AWM) and separate FM sound generation. Plus it can store samples. Built in sequencer.
FM synthesis similar to DX only more complex- 6 operators. Sounds can be up to 4 AWM or 4 FM or 2 of each. The keyboard supports various tuning scales, including 1/4 and 1/8 th note... etc. You can even 'reverse' the keyboard - !! The effects are superior to the SY77.

Drawbacks - the baclkight gets dim, and replacement complex. The belt drive on the floppy 'melts' but its an easy fix. And finally its very very heavy. The programming is very complex-

The FM sounds use various operator patterns using various sine waves - for harmonic generation - each of the 6 fm operators has its own complex amplitude mod as well... digital LP HP filters which will oscillate..

At the moment you can get these quite cheap, but i suspect this will not be so. My advice, and here of course you are free to ignore it, check the specs and if you can - buy one. Its so much more than PCM.

Have Yamaha FM11
done extensive FM programming in the past
not fond of how much time sink it requires
have some old FM programming book that was given from the 80s that read using as reference
thanks for the suggestion
yet there is gear all over this place(except for the bathroom)
always fighting gear "SpaceWar"
it's become an epic battle
not buying any more full sized keyboards... out of stands and room
can sneak in another rack here and there
adopting strict need versus want policy anymore with future gear

take it to gear guys, everyone will be better off for it, nobody is checking misc for gear info, if there is one part of this board that matters its gear

kept badgering him to commit suicide, on Maniacs I think, to the extent the thread was removed. Partly I think why Luke stopped posting.
I am pretty sure he stopped posting because people stopped "badgering him blablabla" or whatever. It was not nice, not proud of it, but his fuel was the attention, good or bad. Idk. Whatever. You are old, blablabla, some cursing and smirking and attempt to be a smartass.

Hi Jdude, all the best.

Hi Jdude, all the best.
Hi

Luke is OK - for Luke! he has managed to work at a MA in creative writing. He still emails me, and did mention Daric in relation to suicide.

He seems to keep off the forums, which is sensible, though does use stack exchange!

Anyway- he is OK. And yes i'm old. But that's OK too.

hope things are good for you-

J.
