I agree - I mean these guys just seemed like true punks through and through. They weren't just fast, loud, hungry and young; they had that all important punk rock quality of profound urgency. Is that what makes them timeless? Maybe some would say the Kennedys were the best band out of SF but I say it's Crucifix. Although an argument can be made for Flipper as being totally punk by virtue of being anti-punk.

Until a few years ago, I didn't know this was originally an Adolescents song.

That John Lydon interview is a classic. Tom Snyder smoking on TV in 1980 is pretty classic too.

I love Suburbia....

Was Casey Royer still heading up D.I. in 2009? I grew up in the Bay Area until about '87 and wish I'd made it to the Gilman that year. Have you read the book 924 Gillman? It's pretty good and comprehensive as shit.

This is my other favorite D.I. song, (even if Reagan is misspelled) complete with a Tom Snyder reference -

I saw the Adolescents in Berlin a few years back and they were awesome. Steve Sotos needed a footstool to get up on the stage (which was not even 2 feet high), nice guy though.

As much as I would've loved to see Rikk Agnew onstage, Cadena's son was a worthy replacement.
Big Pete wants a woman. Extortion experience preferred, but not necessary ...
