me and my friends went and saw this in the theater and were all really high and laughed pretty hard / got really dizzy. we just watched it normally (no 48fps or 3D). it's very much like a super elaborate live action videogame (the big white orc dude is basically a MINIBOSS!!! they inserted to make the 3-movie format work and feels p corny)

it's entertaining is what i mean i guess, not much else

what "political reasons"?? i guess it does sort of foreground the heavy-handed "dwarves as Jews!!!!" symbolism of the book, otherwise don't know what you mean

Oh no, nothing so serious - just the three movie format you mentioned. It took them three 3-hour-plus films to tell most of Lord of the Rings (1100 pages). But there's no way it takes 3 films to tell The Hobbit (300 pages).

It just pisses me off all this multiple film crap so they won't get my money.

The feckers.

And I forgot to say I went to see World War Z. Odd to see a zombie film with no blood or gore in it but it was better than I expected.

Weird seeing my home town double as Philadelphia - skyscrapers and a fuck off big bridge were there shouldn't have been!

Amen to that. First time I heard Hobbit was going to be split into parts, I honestly thought it was a joke. Now I know how the AVGN felt when he laughed at the next Rambo movie simply being called Rambo... and then it actually happened.
