the documentary is so fucking boring, i tried but couldnt get through even one episode
i was 12 when they came here, my mom was deep into the je-whore-vahs witnesses, oregon was still mostly conservative whiteys, they were scared shitless
i remember some of them thinking they might go "clean house" down there, talking like it was a disease outbreak, worried about the children
it was quite literally the only news on some days, we talked about it in school regularly and some people thought it was the beginning of armageddon or at least the fall of america
osho seemed like a pretty normal guru to me, not much different than all the doosh televangelists who were so popular at the time, would have been cool if they stayed on here, but...
the whole clusterfuck got me really interested in cults, so later when the heavens gate people came to town i made a point of checking them out, now that was some next level whack shit, i was hoping they would do the whole compound thing even though i wasnt into it... so disappointed
