Trying to discourage myself from playin theremin.

I think trying to quantify music is one of the biggest wastes of time in the world, like discussing your favourite colour or deity or pizza topping. People should realise that and get on with their life.

Part of the haul this weekend from two swap meets, one of them I only found out about a day or two prior:

Swap 1: The car show was mostly for stocking up on useful utilities e.g. shrink tubing, which isn't pictured, and the springs which were a nice surprise. Also not pictured: lots of little crappy kids toys that I didn't anticipate picking up, but what is done is done.

Swap 2: Being somewhat tight on money the next day, I came into the gear swap with zero expectations, but more importantly a list of priority items to buy should the price be right. Once again, I was not expecting the show to be the oasis I never knew existed so that plan got blown out of the water, and much more money was spent than desired. Though compared to the vast selection of unthinkably rare vinyl and used PA/studio/live equipment being regularly sold in the double and triple digits respectively, I suppose it could have been worse.

The tremolo has a gain knob mod on the side, but either the guy I bought it from (who was super cool) turned it way too hard, or the fine fellows at Alchemy Audio don't know how to tighten a nut properly. Also replaced the rate knob, cro-magnon style with heat and a file, because the pot was smashed to near-obliteration and had one of those ugly as sin chrome dome guitar knobs on it that grounded the damn output signal whenever I touched it.

Loop selector was my attempt to justify to myself why I didn't invest in a proper gate/loop pedal; I got it fairly cheap and the guy selling it went through all the trouble of getting it's box and manual despite the instructions being written entirely in Russian!

The Body Rap thing is just bizarre. Each one of those buttons triggers an extremely lo-fi drum or voice sample ("body" and "rap" being the only two of the latter) that repeats on loop until either the button is no longer held down or another one is. Apparently each of them has a drum trigger inside but until I get around to opening it I suspect otherwise. The guy literally could not get rid of it fast enough, and after a second's worth of hesitation on my part, following an earnest inquiry, he gave it to me for free.

I actually bought a korg volca sample as a cheap sampler. Works pretty well, haven't uploaded a bunch of samples yet but it'll be great to sequence noise like some sort of noise drum machine

Got a second Caline Snakebite. It's a really great reverb for the price, just wanted stereo. The filter and resonance are really great features, it can sound surprisingly realistic if you get the settings right.
