Cheers Crochambeau, I've plugged everything in a zillion different ways since my last post, added a couple of pedals, taken away the synths. Having fun with it, nice one!

From left to right it's an RMA Dirty Doper (somewhat self oscillating fuzz), the wide one is a crustacean (noise source), over a mudlark (fuzz), next to a small mixer.

When they are combined as such they do turn into something like an oscillator.
I have no suggestion for software.

I think Lost of Oscillators will be my next album

Don't have an actual photo of my setup, but it's very simple - so I shall explain

This:

Image

With cheap headphone splitters on both the output and the input. A cable running between the two splitters to create a feedback loop - and the packaged microphone plugged into the other half of the splitter on the input. The other half of the output splitter running into my mixer (obviously).

This:

Just running straight into the mixer. You can wedge the stylus into the little gaps either side of the ribbon synth - to create a constant sound. Then I just play with dials at random.

I also usually have a guitar and a standard microphone plugged into the mixer, but they don't fall under the noise portion of what I do (since I am not a noise artist - I just use elements of noise in more conventional music).

I've had fun times connecting a crocodile clip test lead to the left hand screw of the ribbon, clipping the other end to a coin or other corroded/rough metal objects and loosely touching that with the stylus :)
