DAWs for noise?

Post by sunburnedshirts » Fri Jul 27, 2018 6:45 pm

I've been in the noise scene for about a year, all online since my local music scene frowns upon harsh noise and similar genres. My usual setup is a small akai synth with fl studio and audacity plugins; mostly hardcore, wasp synth and camel crusher. After 20 something releases, I began to get bored with my sound and started to wish I had anywhere near the budget for a physical setup. Even a hundred dollar budget is pushing it since I'm yet to get a good job because I'm not done with school yet, and all I really need is a new setup that I can continue to have fun with during my free time, as that is all noise is to me as an artist.

you can multitrack with open source
Audacity does it https://www.audacityteam.org/
or you can learn LMMS https://lmms.io/
guessing that you are using PC with FL...
can possibly let you beta test some VST
what are you attempting accomplishing?
plus if you can read schematics & learn using soldering iron
you can make your basic rig for under $100

im really trying to find something that wont get as old as quickly, the same setup with only a few options sonically gets old quickly. ill try out lmns and maybe adding a few more vsts to audacity to really crank up the noise

you can also try experimenting with these:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19827
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19799
that "noisewall" can be fucking loud(hot clipping signal) so be aware
they are good for using with recorded parameter "automation"
you can do that in FL

LMMS actually is quite extensive yet takes time learning

experiment for seeing if that can work for you

sounds like you already are grasping your "style"
are you running that "Akai" through some pedals?
then one shot recording?
made it for generating thousand+ noisewalls
so could just render core noise wash tracks with it
it was an experiment
plus it's actually fuck you to HNW movement & Vomir
slackasses
:P

good tracks on bandcamp
only suggestion
find you Voice
that will exponentially up you game
plus expand your sound
even if you start with screaming some poetry/spoken word on top
that will put you above 90%(or more) of current internet "noise" scene
also it pushes your personal limits into new realms
you obviously get how to make your type of sound now
take it for next level
that makes long term impact
projection ov vox into targets/listeners psyche

well, if im screaming i gotta do it at certain times of the day. in earlier tracks i had a much different sound that was a mix of masonna and prurient. screaming with staticky distortion and some ambient noise stuff here and there
