Or yea what xdugef said
"No input" is such a misnomer anyway. If anything, it should be "feedback loop mixer" or "no external source mixer," or something else that rolls off the tongue better; "no input" implies no inputs (and no returns, as they are essentially inputs too) are being used e.g. the only audible signal is floor noise from the mixer itself, which is what it should be because feedback loops are already a well-documented phenomenon that don't need another name. I've amplified my mixer on a few occasions to the point where it became a big contact mic, granted I don't know if this is due to some kind of improper grounding problem from faulty equipment including but not limited to the mixer, but I could definitely get sound out of it just by tapping on the chassis.

"Purity" or some hybrid mutant either way it's is good "concept" for reflection/experimentation
even if it is merely easy sine wave generator method
and/or way for manipulating noise floor as usable source generator in circuits

Terms though are often far from perfect, but just to label an object or method. Look at the trouble with "Noise". Famously it said of the
Holy Roman Empire, it was never Holy, Roman or an Empire.

Impressionism and Minimalism were both terms of abuse, as i guess was punk, only in the latter deliberately self applied.

I was thinking of 'self-sourced mixer'.

I think trying to quantify music is one of the biggest wastes of time in the world, like discussing your favourite colour or deity or pizza topping. People should realise that and get on with their life.

Ha ha! And you can't get more purist than that! Actually, I like the idea that SSM could replace NIMB as the acronym of choice among discerning noise folk.

Thanks.. I was thinking isn't it No Input Mixer Feedback.. so what the hell is the B for?? What the hell is a No Input Mixer Board?? Isn't that a bit redundant? Isn't a mixer a "board" :wall:

Kinda reminds me of the time i had to explain what an audio mixer is to a TSA agent. They open my luggage.. what's this? It's a mixer? What does it do? It mixes audio. Are you a DJ? Yes.. yes I am a DJ.. can I go now?

A couple years ago Crank Sturgeon was playing and two nit wits slithered in and started shouting "what's up with the klan hat" and "Black Lives Matter".. everyone turned around and looked at them the same way.

That's just classless.

I second the motion to replace "no-input" with "self-sourced."
