Eye have a working Sony TC399
in thee ye olde wall of archaic gear
that scored for like $5 at thrift store
what's not working with yours...
is it belt or the motor or something else?
actually it's a fantastic quality pro stereo reel to reel machine
yet primarily for extreme sentimental reasons
such as the previous & original owner
almost always use the Teac a3000 with stereo 1/4" tapes
they are around the same quality Reel to Reel machines

I think it's just melted original belts even the power cord is sticky.
It powers up, fast forward works, nothing else.
Thrift store find, just need to get it fixed..or sell it for parts.
Mine is a tc 366, plenty of them floating around, and tons of info online.

Seriously dude? A footswitch.

I guess if this thread has drifted into anything remotely related to delay I have more to contribute:

Passive delay line with micro-second resolution up to about 2 milliseconds.

anyone here seen/used one of these yet?

No I have not seen one of these.. could be a decent candidate for the afore mentioned updated version of the Time Machine I've always desired.

The closest device I have to that currently is Reflex Live Loop but the biggest problem with it is that it has too many features!!

A dump box caches audio at a set length, so if someone curses or says something else they shouldn't while on air, it cuts to live-feed. You can restart delay at the next break. I know some stations use several.

I don't have a picture of it but back when I worked at a video post production house the boss showed me the storage room where they kept all the equipment that they no longer needed but couldn't get rid of but it counted as collateral against their business loans. Anyway there was this unusual looking lexicon rack mount delay that they let me borrow. I guess it's intended purpose was to pitch correct warble in reel to reel video playback and it had some method for syncing to the tape deck. Of course I just wanted to use to make weird sounds with but it wasn't especially fun so I took it back.

They also had a Symbolics 3d graphics workstation in storage. My boss asked me if I wanted to set it up and I refused.. I mean it wasn't of any use since by then it was incredibly slow and the only way you could get images off of it was via a composite output since they had not bothered to buy the ethernet option or even the RGB output option. Anyway at some point we almost sold it to the guy who made all the CNN War In The Gulf graphics because even in the mid 90's he was still using Symbolics I guess because it's what he knew.
