used to work with Eventide H3000
FUCKING HATE THAT MACHINE
(blew channel strip out on MCI console
scrolling through patches on that eventide
from one patch to another massive db gain difference)
OUTPUT SIGNAL TOO HOT!!!!!!!!
during mix "session"
had it patched in FX buss
obviously needed a compressor/limiter after it
DOH!!!
good machine just a specific dumb bad experience with it....
live & learn

I love the H3000, nothing wrong with a little heat.

I also have a goofy old "Audio Digital TC-2" probably a 12 bit digital delay from 1982 with less than fantastic sound quality, but it does have a VCO input that allows external signal to define repeat rate and was built local to me. Rare bird with an unfortunate name in terms of search words.

There was also Moog/Bode Vocoder in that studio
confused the living hell out of me
would sit reading the original manual over and over whenever possible
comprehend it now
yet it honestly had me so WTF confused first several multiple times
when attempting using that modular vocoder back then
would obsessively experiment with it when had free time

I love the H3000.

I'm sure that you do.

My favorite combo during the rack wars of the late 80's and early 90's was the H3000 and TC Electronics 2290. Add a second 2290 ( with expansion ) for other worldly Fripptonian excusions.

Bipolar Joe the Prime Time and early PCM series were amazing. I'm surprised someone hasn't brought on the Super Primetime lovefest.

Ursa Major had a few units to induce paroxysms as well.

Wow, there's some serious porn all up in this thread.

I've got to give a shout out to the Digitech DSP128+, which was the rack unit I cut my teeth on, and my introduction into multi-tap delay. Nevermind the fact that it can't pass 15 KHz, there's enough sentimentality on my part to keep one on hand (though to be fair, I only really use the ultimate reverb algorithm on it any more).

have my old 128+ that smoked
had it for ages
scorched PCB when transistor went bad
burst into flame
not sure what chips if any where damaged
it was completely fucked
replaced some transistors
everything power on menus and buttons respond
no signal output
had replaced it soon as that machine smoked
haven't been inside of that 128+ in long time
probably throw it on EBAY as doa
replaced with Digitech DSP 256XL instantly soon as saw magic smoke
big improvement overall in so many ways

Did the 256 improve sound quality at all? I remember looking at upgrading at some point, but seem to recall the big reverb algorithm had less control points or some shit. That's literally the only reason I keep this around (yeah, it started me on a rack mount journey, but holy fuck that got out of hand, so... you know).

Back to the delay front, I have been collecting open reel machines with the express intent of doing multi machine tape loops. Part of my five year plan.

yeah sort of get what you are saying
had my 128+ since way early 90s
256xl sounds better for my ears
plus someone said it can do CV input
yet have not confirmed that as of yet
need looking at manual
has some extra inputs on back
yet sort of thinking they were mistakenly talking about 7.6 RDS time machine
