because we aren't fucking paying him licensing for "coloured noise" drone circuit
hmmm
you better make it one of those pest repeller machines

That'd make a good album cover

What are they?
Fuzz/gain/distortion?
Germanium Transistors?
Opamps?
noiseboxes?
VCO/VCF?
or all of the above?

Those are RMA Crustacean noise generators. Silicon transistors doing white noise generation and low passed rumble noise generation with a 741 in a variable crackle circuit. The upper unit has individual outputs for the three stages, the lower unit has volume controls to mix those three stages down to one output.

They employ the lower circuit board in that picture (of a somewhat souped up crustacean).

sounds like fun
have bunch of extra 741s around here
we bought them in bulk for some projects
contemplating making Vomitron hardware rack module
post my virtual mock up design testing
the biggest bitch is used Steiner Parker Type SVF
and don't want that parts counts
plus rather not do 5 way switches multimode VCF
made basic filters from 741s before
will do some tests on my old modified heathkit et3100 circuit design lab
when have that ever "mythical" extra time
yet it's going on "the list"
not trying to clone your design or anything
your design looks awesome
thanks for showing/sharing info on what's in the box

Hahaha, no worries, there's nothing even remotely close to the stuff you describe going on here. Also, technically speaking the root design concept of the three stage noise generator was sourced from Sisto Rossi. I got there along a different path on the circuit side of things (I'm stubborn like that, so I can say the engineering investment is mine) but I'd be lying if I said it was my idea.

It was a customer request that has evolved dramatically. Tons of fun, about to ship a brick (upper image) down under a little later today. Plastic bags not included.

cloning something robs me of breadboard fun anyways
prototyping circuit creatures is usually a joy for me
yet some people consider it hell
totally drives my GF bat shit insane

Have you ever contemplated Twin T band pass filter
with CV control for each T cell and an overall CV gain control
Eye have reason for asking that specific question
such topology can create brutalizing filter sounds
conducting R&D making some designs
using that filter structure
with noise generators
cv injected into 8038s
then fed into T BPF
doing research so figure may as well ask you
reading some paper on topology from 1965
attempting ripping heart out of plague bearer
for making mutations with potential cascading

Beyond fixing issues (like PSU noise) or framing hard paths (like a high pass/low pass split) I have not done much filter experimentation to date. In terms of end application I feel CV is a must, and so it makes sense for me to begin at the VCA (the gain cell of which could then drop right into a filter matrix).

I do love filters, but many formative years of running resonance into self oscillation region have sort of burnt me out on it as a priority. My mindset is on establishing textures at the source & path and I'm still gingerly side stepping the filter rabbit hole. I'll take the plunge eventually..

Thanks for the links though, I'll peruse and digest.
