How to mute channels in mixer?

Post by GROSS » Fri Feb 16, 2018 1:14 am

I like my Behringer Xenyx QX1002 USB mixer, I love that it's cheap and has USB connection. But it doesn't have mute buttons for channels.

In my noise tracks I want to quickly switch between 3-4 channels Kazumoto Endo/Killer Bug style

What should I do to have both USB connection and mute function?

I'm thinking about these solutions:

1) Sell Behringer and buy Mackie PROFX8V2 (has both USB and mute). But Mackie is too expensive

2) Buy Boss TU-3 Chromatic Tuner. I heard it can block the channel. But you have to buy them for every channel you use

3) Buy Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor with mute function. But again, expensive "mute pedal" for every channel?

4) Boss LS-2 Line Selector. But you can choose only between two lines

What else can you recommend?

The Mackie is a pretty nice mixer, for what it's worth.

It sounds like your biggest issue is funds, so I would recommend making "Kill switches" and putting them right before sound enters the mixer. They're really cheap, just one button / switch and two 1/4" sockets for each channel. Borrow a soldering iron if you don't have one. The most expensive part of it will be the case. If you can't solder, now is a great time to learn.
