I found Evil Moisture's approach to bad/broken mixers inspirational; reuse the pots, jacks and other parts not by desoldering but by simply sawing up the whole board into suitably sized chunks
Mmmmm, now we're talking. Just chop up the entire mixer, with a bandsaw - contact mic'd.

Can we talk about gear without politicizing it?

It is possible, you know.

These are fucking tools. You either buy tools that break and are difficult to fix, buy tools that break and are easy to repair, buy tools that do not break (hahaha, good luck with that one), build your own tools, or live without tools.

If this was Maniacs I'd punctuate this with a lock & drop, but hey, I guess that site is not popular for a reason. :P
I miss Troniks :(

Sorry man, I'm just poking the bear, it's hysterical how some people can get so bent out of shape if you refuse to conform to their viewpoint. I coulda just as easy accused them of being Taylor Swift fans as Trump fans, makes no nevermind. Though yeah, the whole Country A is better quality than Country B is completely laughable.

That said, I love the tool analogy, but I'd take it further. If noise was something I was making my living at, you bet I'd go out and buy a reliable set. Noise, Music, and Sound brings me zero income, so I'd have to be fantastically stupid, or self-deluded, to allocate a big budget to it, unless y'know I had the cash spare.

Then again, look at people like Tim, he's doing numerous shows and using (no offence) questionable gear, and I love it, he doesn't get precious about it, I'm sure if something breaks, he uses something else, or goes out and buys another one. (Tim, I'm basing this on the pics I see you and your cohorts posting).

Can we do something else, how about a nice game of chess?
I think trying to quantify music is one of the biggest wastes of time in the world, like discussing your favourite colour or deity or pizza topping. People should realise that and get on with their life.

I miss troniks too, though that last year or two was somewhat rough.

Excellent points. I completely overlooked those angles - the weekend warrior/shadetree mechanic versus career slob. I think it's safe to say - anyone not in noise for the personal enjoyment of it is probably fucked in the head.

Much love to you all (I don't have a single Behringer piece of gear any more, but I have had in the past - I should probably duck out of this thread anyway).

upgrading your gear can be long brutal process that can seem never ending
use whatever works until you can swap up for better
"noise" is not by any means the only scene ever been involved with in creative process capacity
yet it was always believe it or not
usually the least stressful
easiest

over time you will slowly upgrade/replace gear
whatever/whenever can afford and/or stumble across something
it all takes effort/energy/willpower
used to scour chicago craigslist 7 days a week(constantly refreshing whenever possible)for finding broken gear every day
so maybe could make some "super scores"
don't give up
upgrade cheap junk whenever possible
for multitude of reasons
if you intend having any real longevity
this isn't any attempt getting you being some type of noise gear "conformist"
use whatever you can get your hands on that works for now
have some aspirations/inspirations for increasing your creative output quality
or you can always just use your laptop and VST:P

not everyone has the same experiences or perspectives from such
honestly have been playing "instruments" since age 4
that makes me feel fucking awkward around here
versus the entire HNW "new wave" or whatever
will make some forms of experimental /noise
it is no way my only form of creative output
it's more like a vacation and change of perspectives
that can be gleamed/amalgamated

attempting finding some peers for interactions & creative inspirations/feedback
that can even comprehend what eye am saying some of the time
and well they typically tend being super phreaks

don't take it all so personal or anything over fucking behringer gear
plus everything is not cut and dry left/right dead simple in the world
question/reflect/meditate/think

Country A is better quality than Country B?(factor the nation culture people crime country & Gov)
Is Somalia better than Latvia?
Do you comprehend why "Globalism" is fuct???
Do you comprehend that Big Gov total tyrannical corruption is fuct?
How about the "Country" is way better than "Gangbanger Warzones"
(from my personal experience)

it's true :) tho i am starting to use slightly less smash-everthing-at-the-end-of-the-set gear in my old age.

but yeah if noise was/is 'paid work' one might want to use good tools. But even then, whatever gets the job done.

Is Somalia better than Latvia?

do we need a new Gear thread for whistles?

how about thread for walls of PA speakers
"dog whistle"
wtf good is that going to do?
you are deaf
metaphor:
"fucked up
and passed out dreaming on rail road tracks...
train is coming"
how about this simple basic warning for now
watch out for getting drunk wandering into "no go zones" on tour...
for your own sake
Is Somalia better than Latvia?

Sorry you are confusing "Sovereign Nationalism" & Mussolini Futurist "Fascism"
yet that's what you are taught for being good SJW conformist
apathetic much?
so you are now supposedly speaking for "pretty much everyone" in the EU
you have to go along with the system to get along/ahead
~shrug~
plus you are living in 1984+ police state technocracy
isn't that precious
anyways
are you playing free noise set in the Calais Jungle?
best of luck on tour

i'm being facetious not actually arguing about whatever internet right politics talking points yo uare on about

I vaguely know people who visited the Jungle, seemed like a pretty messed up place. they met some good people in bad situations and tried to help out a bit, didn't get murdered and didn't encounter isis terrorists disguised as children or whateve

did your non-liberal-MSM media sources not tell you it closed in 2016 thoooo ? so alas no noise gigs there.
plus you are living in 1984+ police state technocracy
HMMM yeah but also our government is doing everything it can to defund the police at the same time, that's not working too great.

Anyway we have brexit no-deal apocalypse coming up any day now :D that will solve all our problems with immigration right? :eew:
