What is the path of a migrating swallow?
I think trying to quantify music is one of the biggest wastes of time in the world, like discussing your favourite colour or deity or pizza topping. People should realise that and get on with their life.

That's a bit racist, surely?

Just what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

http://style.org/unladenswallow/

Regarding noise, if your synth does not hit the sweet spot you can plug the synth into something else that may steer things in your favour.

Or explore the catacombs of modular, hahahaha.
I have no suggestion for software.

Well, to be honest, synths = boring noise/not noise at all 99% of the time.
Smash trash and distort.

Depending on your pedal collection, sometimes just a simple oscillator, a wah or other sweepable filter and a harmonizer / pitch shifter or ring modulator can get you there.

i'mevidence of this theory. I use synths and my noise is boooooorring. Floops are probably better but it's hard.

Feedback loops are so boring. It's more of a challenge to get something fresh and exciting out of a loop than people may think (as you said, it's hard). Unless you like listening to oscillating distortions go "REEEEEEEE!" for the ten thousandth time.

Maybe I'm just not that good at it, or maybe I need to get some new pedals (the answer to all of noise-life's problems), but feedback loops are really dull if you don't get a bit creative with ways to route signal and add some depth and some layers and some chop-chop-chop as opposed to 20 minutes of this: http://vocaroo.com/i/s1AW4RMO1aGP

When I get right down to it, though, the problem is that I don't have enough hands. I need a man in my life, if only to act as a second pair of hands. I wanna try playing a guitar that way.
