Thanks. That thought experiment evolved from having the aluminum in a vice while lightly dressing the edges. Made for some very interesting resonances. The bow seemed like the way to get effective control of what turned out to be a nice build. Brain dead simple conceptually and cheap.

Despite all the jeering and venom, I was actually, genuinely inspired by some of MK's recent posts... which are actually the same post's he's recycled before. Regardless, above is one of the results of my recent experimentation: a somewhat simple tape echo, fed into a stereo recorder. Results were nothing spectacular, but I admit it was fun, odd considering my hatred of making tape loops. No sample yet though that could change.

MK, I still wish you would post samples of your stuff, get out of your comfort zone to show all of us what these things can really do (the pics of the setups you yourself did, obviously) instead of complaining about how a "simple concept" innevitably gets repeated over and over again due to "stupidity," while simultaneously rienforcing said, supposed "stupidity" by reposting the same group of images over and over again. Who knows, that friggin' radio could sound spectacular, despite my disdain for their [over]use in noise.

But hey, if you don't have any samples, or don't want to share any, ultimately I can't make you do so. I'm fine with that.

I think I've sufficiently proven by now that I've grown beyond, as you'd put it, a "grasshopper," and while my "kung fu" isn't nearly as strong as per your standards, a little recognition would be nice.

Simply put, want to take back that crack about application and trucks now?

Eagle eyes will notice that it's not wired up in this pic, I did rectify that.

Another thinly veiled joke right there.
%100 quality joke right there

We went to the San Gabriel Mission over the weekend.. they had a gift shop stuffed with all sorts of religious crap but I was drawn to a nice bronze hand bell where the handle was in the shape of a monk who had inhabited the mission at some point.. this thing is loud as fuck.. surely designed to drive the local indians into converting to catholocism from sheer fear of it's ear piercing ding.

I think the fourth one down is some sort of carpentry tool? If so, the flat surface & metal on metal might be exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for.
You are correct on the carpentry tool observation. A hand plane works wonders with a contact mic attached. The metal paint pan pictured was very useful source material.
