I have been recording the run-out grooves at the ends of records and looping into a Boss RC-3. My decks have +/- 50% tempo so you can quickly build up some dense sounds. You need a gain of some sort before going into the looper so I use a cheap distortion pedal with EQ settings.

Some of the loops on old records sound filthy, its just a case of experimenting and digging through my archives of vinyl. Feedback looped through a mixer you can make some mad tracks pretty easily.

Turntable noise is only practiced by the worst people in noise, a true dark art that leads only to failure and despair.

They are expensive, certainly noisy, but take up far more space than a laptop...
