I think trying to quantify music is one of the biggest wastes of time in the world, like discussing your favourite colour or deity or pizza topping. People should realise that and get on with their life.

A nice computer. I have a pretty good laptop I was given to repair and keep, but I am holding out on integrating it as my main desktop workstation until I can afford an SSD to clone the OS onto + a couple of external spinners and upgraded RAM for it. I also have an ancient HP NC6000 notebook, into which I would like to add a new HDD and max out the RAM capabilities. It'd mostly be for vintage game emulators and watching movies, though... And maybe a little bit of old, cruddy audio software, so I can LARP like it's 1998, and maybe even gig with it, doing shitty Dolphin Sonar-core laptop noise and the really old style of wave-looping, rhythmic collage stuff I first experimented with over a decade ago. That computer is so ghetto. It makes me feel really nostalgic for simpler times. <3

On a related note, I've been obsessed with granular synthesis recently (only 20 years behind the curb), so I've been trying out various old freeware programs, as well as other very old, very out-of-date software and VSTi's, with which I can produce and perpetually layer and manipulate and glitch out scads of crude audio data. I'm looking forward to being able to dump this shitty desktop so I can run all these programs and perform other audio related tasks a bit more easily. Also want to get a MIDI controller, finally, with lots of knobs/sliders.

I just saw this commercial on TV... It's like a Tim & Eric sketch or something. I need ten of these!

my friend Zali made a piece of literal dream gear, inspired by a dreamed fleamarket find https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3x2Xev ... e=youtu.be

I wondered about them being bendable too. I suspect there's probably limited potential for any pitch-warping, since the audio is probably all stored on flash memory. Might be some clipping distortions possible, if nothing else.

On second thought, I wonder if you could bend it to skip around the chapters randomly or something. At the very least, it could have a stutter added to it. Having a series of them wired up with mutes for momentary blasts of scripture would be really fun. VBS, Burroughs-style. :chin:
