recently contemplating some noise drone pedal design
that can be made rather inexpensive
for including schematic in Noise Guide Zine
sort of for giving that oldschool popular electronics/polyphony experimental feel
if anyone want collaborating on design then post here
not attempting infringing on anyone elses "niche"
merely an idea
can make it 9v on the cheap with 324s & 741s plus noise gens
maybe give easy stripboard
if anyone wants doing pages for such a project that is good also
figure this thread needs getting some more activity
I say YES, absolutely. give me a sec, and I'll try to pull up a cheap quick dirty noise maker circuit of my own design...

Oh, and here's an idea; should we consider selling a bit of advert space in this zine? I mean yeah, the profits would likely be minimal at best, but, maybe folks like lawrence scaduto from bitcheslovemyswitches.com could be con-vinced to pay like,, $10, to have an ad in the first issue, before they realize it has a feasible production scale of like, 20 copies per issue?

I mean, I'm more thinking how cool it would look to have a legit ad, for an actually useful website, than any sort of real profit here. We could always ask him if he's willing to pay for an ad... and then just throw it in there anyway if he says "no"

I often thought about paid ads, but for limited run zines with limited audience it makes no commercial sense. For the likes of Special Interests with higher print costs and bigger runs, I can see why people would want to pay for an advert.

Print costs can be pretty cheap per copy for small runs, costs will be minimal. It is postage costs that can make unit costs expensive.

But of course great

free adds for any applicable when starting
get ball rolling
plus helps fill space layout
then you can charge "suckers"
ummm err "advertisers"
all ads must be related for noise
labels tapes noise boxes pedals festivals "DISASTER AREA" tickets so on so forth

Still thinking about this, and toying with various ideas.

Fake adverts.

Or find people who want to participate / want promotion, on the basis that the advert is designed by "us" so that the aesthetic fits the rest of the zine.

A page of "NoiseGuide" promotion to encourage potential new forum members and to promote the compilation.

I still feel an "introduction to noise music / noise scene / noise aesthetic" has some merit

If the "Noise Guide Zine" concept isn't getting any "Lift off"
maybe it would be far easier starting "Noise Guide Podcast"
that can generate limited editions of ultra rare "Noise Guide Comp Tapes Series"
10x 4 minute tracks or 5-6 minute tracks with some additional filler for 60 minute episodes/tapes
if we can even pull 10 people here who will regularly create new tracks
maybe that can help generate motivation for zine project
anyone have some input/feedback on this concept?
