Good idea for a comp, jump on it.

Hey all,

I've been listening to The Conet Project a lot recently and it's inspired me.

I'm thinking of doing a compilation using shortwave radio recordings as the raw material for compositions. Broadcasts, number stations, weird scanning sounds, etc.

Layer them up, effect them however you want, make it as harsh or as ambient or as glitchy and weird as you like. We've got free reign. I guess a cap on track length is a decent idea though, 15 mins? Up for discussion.

I'm using WebSDR, a free online radio scanner. If anyone has any physical radio stuff they want to use, awesome, do it!

Any takers? I feel this could be a really cool comp.

Might think about deadlines once a few people are interested (please be interested). Edit: Good to see some of you lot are into it! Don't want to be too rushed with it. Submissions by 1st Jan?

If anyone specifically wants to do artwork let me know, or I'll do something myself.

Any submissions via PM would be good. Google drive or dropbox probably easiest.

Submissions for this should be via short wave radio transmission.

That would be so authentic. You could tell the organizer what frequency and then he could record it on a scanner or something.

Great comp. I would like to join, but do I need to contact you with Reddit?

I sent yours in. Anyone else, let me know. Hopefully, this shortwave comp person follows through. I now have 53 minutes of material, time to trim.

If anyone else doesn't want to use reddit, I'll send on your behalf. I check my email linked to this board.
