Looking for a different sort of noise

Talk about noise music. Reviews, rants, whatever.

Also, they might be a bit more "mainstream" but Yellow Swans has always striked me as being "happier," especially their last release and it's bonus disc. Also what you may be looking for is some of the post rock acts that tend to like noise, they seem to be pretty uplifting (although their noisier parts are usually only during small parts of the whole song.)

Brilliant thread ... and great ideas for listening

I'd recommend for smiles and an antidote for gloominess:

Anything by John Cage ... the guy always appeared so cheery ... or "blessed with a sunny disposition" as he said.

Otomo Yoshihide ... yes indeed. His turntable solo at a gig I saw made me laugh out when he finished. And Ground Zero too

Incapacitants - everything - great showmen.

Cock ESP make me both smile, and worry a bit

V/Vm ... straight outta Stockport.

Boredoms

most sound poets make me happy. Steve McCaffrey, the Dada-ists and the mighty, mighty Henri Chopin and Bob Cobbing - noise voice

Phil Minton ... A Doughnut in Both Hands ... feral choir work

Trevor Wishart for Beach Singularity - and his vocal gymastics in the cd accompanying his sound art book.

cheers

So much material to go through this will take ages D:

I've recently fallen in love with Slap Happy Humphrey though.

I would like to add MC Hellshit & DJ Carhouse's two "Live" releases are essential "fun noise" listening.

This just seems tired and overdone to me. Is there anything that uses anything other than hate/death/br00tal/etc as a theme? I know I've joked about "posi-electronics" but I'm interested in hearing something like that.
If this does not sound too pretentious, check my last project "Shift: Fratres" for a completely different view on the matter.
Just abstract concept, focusing on the sound and the production method only. You can find on this forum a related post with everything you need for downloading the complete album (artwork included).

Cheers,

I saw them last august. Typically as with any gig I bring my dad to, he somehow ends up talking to the headline act completely by accident.

He was with the sax player and drummer while I was talking to Ben and his girlfriend for most of the night. They're all really cool guys. We talked a lot about the Sacremento scene and people like Mick Barr/Spencer Seim/Weasal Walter

I really love them, have all their stuff.
I need something.
