Re: Recommend some watery, drippy hardware filter effects

The Sherman is one of those pieces of gear on my list of expensive shit I really want that I'm slowly working through. Everyone I know that has one has told me the learning curve is enormous, but it basically becomes an important part of the setup. If you can afford it, definitely get one just for t...

Re: Recommend some watery, drippy hardware filter effects

I'd say that Iron Ether unit will be the business.

Re: Recommend some watery, drippy hardware filter effects

I guess you'll want something with an envelope? Would you prefer a pedal or a rack (NaiveLPF style, not Euro/Doepfer style)? Pedals, maybe a Q-Tron or an Ashdown would get you there? For outboard style gear, I've heard great things about the Electrix Filter Factory. They can all be gotten for quite ...

Re: Another novice seeking advice (No input mixing)

Sorry if this sounds like I'm assuming you're an idiot, but what's your mixer set up look like? Can you MSPaint it together for me? I really recommend getting an audio interface. They don't have to be expensive, you can pick up a two input one for less than some pedals go for these days, and it'll k...

Re: Octave/Pitch Shifter

As far as the Boss PS series goes, I only ever used the 2 and 3. I've always thought of them as more of a multi effect with an emphasis on harmonising. The difference between the two is fairly drastic. You can get a lot more sounds out of the 3, better chorusing effects, almost a leslie sound if you...

Re: Octave/Pitch Shifter

I've only used the one with the pedal, because I wanted to do wicked awesome divebomb effects. The PS-3 is also a really great choice.

Re: Octave/Pitch Shifter

More knobs doesn't always make a piece of kit better, but it is more fun to play with. On a side note, there's no Behringer snobbery, they get a bad rep because their shit breaks real easy. Two Behringer pedals I got came in the post pre-broken, but I know a guy who had the same Behringer mixer for ...

Re: Octave/Pitch Shifter

I recommend the Digitech Whammy. I never used the DT version, but the 5th gen. version is solid. It's much dearer than the Behringer, but will last you years.

Re: post dream gear

I spent a couple of years modding DS-1s for people when I lived in Limerick City to do all sorts of crazy shit, I'll have a root around my papers tomorrow and see if I can find the mods I did.
