Re: Re:

what do you think of the article? This kind of repetitive motion is something that GX Jupitter-Larsen has been utilizing for decades .. art and music and especially noise is that it is masturbatory. Most make noise because they like to and they enjoy it but it's very rare that anybody makes a livin...

Re: COntact mics

Was looking for a sturdy contact Mic I was wondering about getting the korg cm200-300 model earlier in this thread. they look really durable and will be supplied somewhere near you. The other thing I can recommend is applying some silicon cover. If you look for a "piezo zoomer" you may find a piezo...

Re: Re:

You should read this article about The Hafler Trio Masturbatorium I read it. I was also able to listen to the album twice and even hear "Fuck" once too. Kind of a let down, even with reading the article first. From a post-industrial point of view, there's a nice flow to the album - the pulsating vo...

Re:

I just tried making a track out of masturbation, inspired by ghost taco. it's hard to keep focused while jacking and mixing simultaneously with a mic stuck up your mouth. I wish I had a way to apply different effects on different channels. It's interesting tho, the act has an integral structure to i...

http://i67.tinypic.com/2a94lrr.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/mkd90.jpg Hate to double post, but I looked around and got the intention that it's okay when it's sensible. I got this yesterday. It will take some time to get used to it. The signal is kind of weak, it doesn't go into my h2n or in a pair of...

Re: Cheapest, dirtiest, low-tech, most no-fi methods you used

I once attacked the public transport stop at my neighborhood with a bat in the dead of the night, recording it. This and a couple of recordings that are nothing more than screaming and bumps are as far as I got.

Re: What's your laptop setup

Haven't tried the NDS12 tho it looks great too. It only works on DSi / 3DS tho right? Interested to see if it's capable of such grittiness as the DS-10, i think the more advanced DSs have a much higher sample rate. I just have old skool DS Lite, the interface is well designed and looks good on any ...

Re: COntact mics

those preamps might help / sound good somewhat but they are line or instrument level preamps so they still won't correctly correct the impedance of a contact mic as far as I know. And here I was thinking that it's actually better to get dedicated outerior preamps. Thanks! I already saw the one that...

Re: COntact mics

If you plan on using a contact mic with your zoom, I'm pretty sure you will need an external preamp. I have an H5 and it doesn't even support guitars if you don't plug them into an effect first (at least that's what their undetailed manual told me). edit: if you don't want to build one, there is th...

Re: What's your laptop setup

But get a DS and the DS-10, it's fun :) I actually first started tracks with the built in audio editor. I routed it in a mixer and apply a distortion. Ah . . . Anyway, I was into some money and was wondering what to get. The DS-12 is on sale right now at the Nintendo store. I hope my screen isn't t...

Re: COntact mics

Field recordings with a contact mic? If you are recording from air, a moderate priced condenser might work for you. If you are actually in contact mic land, you might want to play with a piezo strip, rather than a piezo disk, and see if it works better for your needs. https://www.cbgitty.com/search...

Re: COntact mics

Not used those but used similar clip-on cheap plastic mics, they are OK. they have smaller mic elements than most DIY ones, but i've not noticed a lot of different between different sizes for noise purposes anyway Most contact mics sound the same unless you get into proper expensive ones for amplif...

Re: COntact mics

Thinking of buying a pair of Korg CM-300 to avoid maintenance issues and improve reliability during performances. Also the clip seems useful for field recording situations.
how is the sounds of those things? is it's actually richer than that of the microphones I make myself using standard parts?

Re: What's your laptop setup

hey, glad I found this old thread so I can avoid making a new one. I recently starting building patches in puredata and I got to the point where I figured out how to make some effects and direct and input signal through them. Discussing this with some friends, I was told I should look for a exterior...
