I love KiCad, once you get past the library management it's a joy to use.

Re: Bass Guitar Input

Hook things up every which way and you'll discover what's "wrong" (I refer to no output, not aesthetic preference). Respect power supply voltages and polarities. Avoid hooking the outputs of an amplifier to anything other than a speaker (headphone output doesn't count, that can usually go anywhere)....

Re: Bass Guitar Input

Well, I know that I am a real noob, but how does one make a side chain? I looked a bit on the internet but all I can find is about side chain compression. Split your signal (I prefer active electronics, but I'm sure someone will mention just using a Y cable), one leg goes straight on and the other ...

If you have a preferred bass sound already, maintain that and integrate a side chain set for lunacy.

can we just make a bandcamp and upload tracks individually, say one person sets it up and gives out login info through pm, then contributions can be uploaded whenever, might be a little anarchy involved but i bet gordon would approve

unless someone wants to get physical
I like this idea.

So, is someone driving the bus on this?

I am not in the position to take this sort of thing on, but I'll plant some material on someone who is.

Turntable noise is only practiced by the worst people in noise, a true dark art that leads only to failure and despair.

Yeah, even the lowly H4 has a line in option. It'll also act as a 2 channel A/D converter when plugged into the computer via USB. I have not given this function a lot of workout though..
