Re: Show us yr DIY!

I can empathise a bit with Ray. Early on, trying to fix more complicated things, it would get fixed, but I'd break something else in the process, fall victim to the phantom extra-screws, etc. People like The Post-Apocalyptic Inventor on YouTube makes me envious of the amount of cheap old tools peopl...

Re: Your Setups

I remember you did some ringmod experiments years ago, like plugging the same sound source into each input, that were really interesting. Is this set up for the laugh or for FGFY?

Re: Noise with pedals + mixer ?

I'm almost completely convinced that's a myth. I do it all the time. Everyone I know personally does it all the time. People I know tangentially do it all the time. None of us have ever blown a mixer. I think unless it's a mixer made in the 70's or earlier, you'll be fine.

Re: BEHRINGER

Behringer products are so good, you can't even tell if they're working or not. Perfect for when you're looking for that transparent sound.

Re: Best octave fuzz for noise

I'm a proponent of doing it yourself, and a fuzz is the easiest pedal to make. Click here for a VERY simple fuzz. At the bottom there's a pedal he calls the Buzz Box (It's not the DOD one, look up the Scrambler or Green Ringer).

Re: BEHRINGER

If I wanted cheap gear, I'm more inclined to get a Danelectro. The knobs might fall off, but you can still use them.

Re: Kazumoto Endo sound

I use a DS-1 that I circuit bent a lot. Even as standard it's not a bad pedal for a tonal boost. At any rate, use whatever distortion pedal you have to hand.

I would recommend getting a passive ring mod, then you can plug in your own modulation source.

Re: What to look for in a mixer?

I won't tell you to get a specific mixer because there's so many out there. Look for something that has send/return , panning , and at least a high/low EQ , but if you can get a high/mid/low EQ then that's even better. You don't need a dedicated stereo channel if you have panning, and it's more vers...

Re: Blending Sludge and Noise

I asked my bandmate about this thread, she said get a Micokorg and a bunch of reverbs. I'd add a stereo graphic or parametric EQ, also.

Re: Blending Sludge and Noise

It all depends really. This sounds like a cop out, but it's your band, it's up to you to figure out what sounds good with what your band mates are producing. Think about how you want the noise to contrast the other members. In my doom project, I play guitar and the other one does synths and samples....

It's a box with springs on it and a piezo inside, just make one for 10 bucks.
